Active Member  —   One year, $80

A practitioner ...

  Who has passed the national certification exam and maintains certification currency as defined by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).

Active Members have a voice and a vote.

New members must provide a copy of their certification certificate or card.

Associate Member  —   One year, $80

A practitioner ...

  Who has passed the national certification exam but has not maintained certification currency as defined by the NBSTSA;

  Who has proof of either having completed or being currently enrolled as a student in a CAAHEP-accredited surgical technology program or its equivalent;

  Who can provide notarized documentation from his/her employer that he/she is employed as a surgical technologist;

  Whose primary source of employment is teaching in a CAAHEP-accredited surgical technology program or its equivalent.

Associate Members have a voice but no vote.

Affiliate Member  —   One year, $80

For any individual or organization ...

  That wishes to affiliate with AST and is approved by the Board of Directors as defined in the AST Policy Manual.

Affiliate members have a voice but no vote.

Retired or Disabled Member  —   One year, $45

For any retired or disabled practitioner ...

  Who provides proof of reaching age 65 or provides proof of permanent disability resulting in an inability to work.

Voice and/or vote will be based on the criteria in subsections A, B or C of the AST Bylaws.
