ASTSA Summer 2017
Bonnie (Shelly) Malone, CST Holmes Community College, Kosciusko, Mississippi I am a firm believer in you-get-out-what- you-put-in. Not only is it important for us to share in a commu- nity that helps us to grow and evolve, but to connect with that community in an active and meaningful way so that we never lose sight of why we do this. Being a part of a professional organization helps the individuals within it to grow, mature and perfect their trade. I was beyond thrilled the day I learned I had passed the CST. I literally just sat on my couch and cried when I got the news. This has been something that I have wanted to achieve for such a long time and it required every part of my life to change to reach the goal. The CST isn't just a test. Those cre- dentials are something to be proud of because they three Ruby Lemus College of Southern Nevada, Las Vegas There is a difference between knowing what to do and knowing why you are doing what you do. I feel that the process to certification allows certified techs to really understand their importance during sur- gery. It is also a quite an achievement and some- thing to be proud of!
