NYAST 2018 Surgical Technology Scholastic Bowl AKA “ST Scrub bowl” Dear Surgical Technology Program Directors, School Administrators and Chairpersons: The New York State Assembly of Surgical Technologists (NYAST) is pleased to announce their Surgical Technology academic competition that we refer to as the "Scrub Bowl". As a member of the Board of Directors of NYAST, it is my pleasure to invite your school to participate in this event which will take place on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at the Embassy Suites in Syracuse, NY. Formal letters were mailed to each director , administrator or chairperson from CAAHEP and ABHES accredited schools in New York state. There is a small change in the rules of the competition that I would like to mention and you can see in the attachment. Each school is allowed to have one team represent them. Each team consists of 2 students. Each team may also have one alternate student. All nonparticipating students are encouraged to attend the event. The 2016 event was a great success and the scores was very close. The winning team represented the Swedish Institute and was awarded with a plaque to commemorate the event. We would hope that more schools will participate this year. Students that participate in the event are welcome to attend the NYAST Spring Conference on the same day Saturday, April 14, 2018, which will be held at the same venue. The conference information is enclosed.
