AST has several partner organizations that are focused on the profession of surgical technology.
The Accreditation Review Council on Education in Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (ARC/STSA) focuses on the accreditation and review of surgical technology and surgical assisting education programs.
The Association of Surgical Assistants (ASA) serves as the professional organization for the surgical assistant profession. The Foundation for Surgical Technology (FFST) is the nonprofit arm of the association and serves to award scholarships and financial assistant to students studying in accredited surgical technology programs and to practitioners who volunteer for medical missions.
The National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) is the national certification body of the profession and sponsors the national certifying examinations for the CST and CSFA credentials.
