    The profession of surgical technology can attribute its growth and professional success to the collaborative relationships developed with groups devoted to issues critical to the profession: surgical technology education, surgical technology certification, development of scholarships for students and development of an advanced practice pathway.

  • Our Partner Organizations

    AST has several partner organizations that are focused on the profession of surgical technology.

    The Accreditation Review Council on Education in Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (ARC/STSA) focuses on the accreditation and review of surgical technology and surgical assisting education programs.  

    The Foundation for Surgical Technology (FFST) is the nonprofit arm of the association and serves to award scholarships and financial assistant to students studying in accredited surgical technology programs and to practitioners who volunteer for medical missions.

    The National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) is the national certification body of the profession and sponsors the national certifying examinations for the CST and CSFA credentials.
