    Foundation for Surgical Technology Military Scholarship

    The Foundation for Surgical Technology offers a scholarship for enlisted active-duty and retired-enlisted military personnel who are pursuing an associate degree or higher in a healthcare related profession. The purpose of the scholarship is to encourage enlisted military personnel to advance in their military career or aid retired veterans who are working toward completing a college degree as well as respond to the financial need demonstrated by the individual.


    Department of Veterans Affairs Approval of Reimbursement of NBSTSA Test Fee

    The National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting surgical technology certification examination is officially approved by the US Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA) affirming that US veterans can receive reimbursement of the examination fee (this does not include the NBSTSA processing fee). Veterans who qualify to take the certification exam are required to submit their official exam results and receipt reflecting the cost of the exam to the processing center of the DVA to facilitate reimbursement.


    RECOGNIZING THE MILITARY

    The Association of Surgical Technologists is proud of our many military members and recognizes that the roots of our profession extend back to World War II. The AST Board of Directors appointed a Military Advisory Committee in 2010 in order to reach out to our servicemen and women who work in surgical patient care. The Military Advisory Committee serves as a resource for members who are active military, reserves and retired.
